TEDA Emerging and Exotic Diseases of Animals (EEDA) Exam 2 Practice

The key idea is recognizing a health certificate used when pets move between states or into other countries. APHIS Form 7001, the Interstate and International Certificate of Health Examination for Small Animals, is the document veterinarians issue to attest that a pet is healthy, up to date on required vaccinations (such as Rabies), and free of conditions that would prevent safe travel. It accompanies the animal during transport and helps meet the destination’s entry requirements and airline or carrier rules.

This form is not meant for intrastate moves within a single state, which typically rely on state-issued veterinary inspection certificates or other local requirements. It is also not a general national import/export health certificate used in all contexts, nor is it an animal import permit. The form’s specific role is certifying health for interstate and international movement of small animals.
